Our vision: Africa will feed the world
Africa is the place were life began. It is the land of the future which has the agricultural potential to feed the world. By working every type of soil with the right techniques and the right fertilizers, we can raise Africa to the forefront of world agriculture, promoting sustainable and responsible farming.
Our mission: To create value-added agriculture which generates happiness.
We have pledged to develop modern and responsible farming methods with high added value, providing farmers with all the resources tailored to their success: products and services, logistical and financial solutions. Everything will be done in all branches to guarantee everyone's happiness.
Our ambition: Working together, we shall successfully transform agriculture in Africa.
The success of this objective is our primary ambition. It must be a model for the development of Africa by Africa.
In the coming months, we are planning to incorporate around a dozen subsidiaries on the continent, with the objective of committing to each country, taking onboard the diversity of the land and the maturity of their markets.
A GREEN OCEAN
The ocean is the origin of life.
Africa is the origin of mankind.
Africa will be the Green Ocean, the origin of our future.
Tarik Choho, Chief Executive Officer of OCP AFRICAMAKING AFRICA
A GREEN OCEAN
Africa is an ocean of possibility. It is above all an ocean of youth and its population will double by 2050. Africa, home to a quarter of the planet's people, will be the youngest of the world's continents, with 60% of its population aged between 15 and 24. This unprecedented demographic growth should be an opportunity for the continent and the entire planet. We believe in this potential and that is why we have committed to the development of high performance and responsible farming, synonymous with agricultural growth, food safety and rural development. Tomorrow's agricultural methods will make Africa a Green Ocean.
Africa is the land where life began. More, it is the land of the future and has the agricultural potential to feed its growing population...and why not the world ?FEEDING
Africa could feed the entire world, all by itself. It has all the necessary resources, human and natural with its rich sub-soils, generous climates and young population. Today, this potential remains untapped. 25% of the 856 million people in Africa suffer from malnutrition and the continent still imports 35 billion USD worth of food a year. We want to help redevelop African agriculture so that it can realise its huge potential, by placing African farmers at the very heart of this development process.
Africa's agricultural transformation should be built on high performance, precise and sustainable farming. With our partners, we are developing top-level research to achieve the essential increase in yield that Africa needs.ENRICHING
"The right fertilizer, in the right place, at the right time, in sufficient quantity" is the key to our development because in the long-term, it will help feed African soils that are today, to a great extent, damaged. And yet, Africa only consumes 3% of fertilizers used throughout the world. Why? An African today pays more than double for his fertilizer than the average global price. Through our local units, our teams will work tirelessly to make fertilizers available, affordable and adapted to the specific characteristics of Africa's soils. On 1st February 2016 the first OCP fertilizer factory for Africa was inaugurated by His Majesty Mohammed VI in Jorf Lasfar in Morocco, representing a 530 million dollar investment. This unit is the first of a series of production facilities that will be built in several African countries, close to major consumer markets.
Giving farmers control of their future...this is the priority of our project. Family farming, which represents a considerable majority of African agricultural practices, is a priority for us. It represents tomorrow's agriculture.BRINGING PEOPLE
An entire ecosystem must be designed and organised to encourage farmers to take an active role in their prosperity. We run a partner network to provide the right conditions for this local success: input producers and microcredit and insurance organisations, mobile phone operators and farming equipment retailers. Together, they will identify adapted, local solutions to create sustainable farming ecosystems.
JUMPING INTO THE 3rd MILLENNIUM
Our project is a springboard from which our continent will jump from one millennium to the next. Thanks, in particular, to new technologies, Africa will reveal its thriving modern edge.JUMPING INTO THE 3rd MILLENNIUM
Growth rates in Africa are spectacular. Growth is prolific from every point of view: labour, consumption, creativity. Like the telecoms industry which, in just two decades, has leapt from one century to the next, we are convinced that African agriculture will, within the next few years, move from traditional farming to brand new production methods, those of the 3rd millennium. At the heart of our project, the digital revolution and new technologies will help shorten circuits and provide farmers with direct access to information: market prices, weather alerts, good agronomic practices... Africa will become a farming development model and will be the source for a new period of growth.
