Business training
Business training
In addition to providing crop and soil education, OCP AFRICA is committed to assisting farmers identify financing solutions and develop the business skills needed in today’s marketplace.
We offer farmers many resources to improve their input access, including a mobile technology that provides marketing, off-taking and financial assistance – as well as technology to better educate farmers on the best agronomic practices and increase their access to educational resources.
For example, in Senegal’s River Valley, the OCP AFRICA “Rice UP! Senegal” program integrates agricultural service offerings to over 4,000 rice producers and smallholder farmers across the country.
Putting smallholder farmers first
OCP School Lab
In cooperation with local partners, OCP AFRICA's School Lab raises awareness about the importance of soil testing by providing demonstrations for famers with technology from partner, SoilCares. These ‘labs’ travel to meet farmers where they are, work with them to test their soil, as well as provide fertilizer application recommendations for their soil and crop mix. Today, School Lab has already assisted over 350,000 farmers across Kenya, Nigeria, Togo, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Tanzania and Côte d’Ivoire.
Agribooster
First launched as a pilot in Côte d’Ivoire, OCP AFRICA's signature Agribooster program connects farmers to financing and insurance, works with local extension agents to train them on proper fertilizer use and collaborates with other providers to ensure they have the right fertilizer and other inputs needed for success. This program also provides farmers fertilizer education trainings on the type and volume of fertilizer each crop and soil type require, as well as the correct frequency and time of year to apply certain inputs.
