Who We Are
RFC is a joint venture between OCP Africa and the Rwandan Government through Agaciro Development Fund and Agro-Processing Trust Corporation (APTC) with a combined investment totaling USD 19,209,615, detailed as follows:
- OCP Africa: 57.4%
- Rwanda’s Agaciro Development Fund: 32.6%
- Rwanda’s APTC: 10%
RFC owns a state-of-the-art fertilizer blending factory in the Bugesera Special Economic Zone, boasting an annual capacity of 100,000 tons with a storage capacity of 25,000 tons. The factory was inaugurated on December 20, 2023.
RFC employs a total of 31 staff members, including both permanent and contractual staff, and operates 5 distribution centers (warehouses) across the country, located in Bugesera, Kigali, Kayonza, Gatsibo, and Musanze.
Main Projects in Rwanda
- OCP School Lab: An initiative by OCP Africa and RFC to assist smallholder farmers with soil testing and soil management advisory services. This project targets 30,000 farmers in Rwanda.
- Farmer Service Centers: RFC, in partnership with CNFA Feed the Future Rwanda Hinga Wunguke Activity, is establishing 7 farmer service centers targeting 150,000 farmers across the country.
- Soil Fertility Mapping: RFC, in partnership with UM6P, ISRIC (World Soil Information), and Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB), is developing a soil fertility map of Rwanda.
- GIS: RFC is implementing a GIS project aimed at mapping the phenological stages and yield of different crop types within Rwanda.
- Demo Plots Project: RFC develops customized fertilizer formulations and conducts trials (demo plots) for both commercial and scientific research.
- Farmer's Credit Scoring Model: RFC, in partnership with Bank of Kigali, is designing a credit scoring model to facilitate farmers’ access to credit from the Bank of Kigali.
